First double pole, then podium: Falken impresses at season highlight of Nürburgring Endurance Series
Falken made a strong impression at the season highlight of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). The two Porsche 911 GT3 R cars first celebrated a superior double pole before the team scored a podium finish in the six-hour race. Alessio Picariello and Martin Ragginger steered their #4 bolide to third place, Tobias Müller and Dennis Olsen followed with the #3 in fourth position.
Saturday began with a strong qualifying session, both Porsche 911 GT3 R cars led the field: with a lap time of 8:31.240 minutes, Alessio Picariello and Martin Ragginger snatched pole position, closely followed by their sister car. Dennis Olsen and Tobias Müller were only 1.3 seconds slower and took second place on the grid for the six-hour race. An impressive demonstration of the potential of the Falken tires.
The season highlight of the Nürburgring Endurance Series did not start as desired, both Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R cars losted places in the tight starting scrum. However, the duo remained in the top five during the the starting phase. With an early pit stop, the team managed to bring one of the two GT3 cars back into the lead for a short time. At race half-time, both cars were within reach of the podium.
In the final three hours, both driver pairings put in a convincing, faultless performance, while the Falken tires provided an optimum basis for the eventual podium finish at beautiful Eifel weather. Alessio Picariello and Martin Ragginger, who had already secured pole position in the morning, reached the podium in third place. Tobias Müller and Dennis Olsen followed in fourth place overall to round off Falken's strong result.
