A well-rounded offer: Falken and Point-S equip the German Red Cross (DRK) with tyres
Falken equips all of Hochtaunus DRK’s emergency vehicles
Tyre brand Falken is well known for its complete portfolio of tyres for cars, trucks, vans and SUVs – but the company’s products are not only ideal for new vehicles. Falken also supplies its tyres for cars that are even older than the 1983-founded brand itself.
This Saturday, 8 September 2018, will deliver clear proof that Falken tyres are the perfect complement for “youngtimers” or modern classic cars, when two members of the tyre company, main driver Dennis Wilstermann and co-driver Evropi Dionysiadou, take to the racetrack. At the wheel of a 163-hp 1984 Porsche 944, the team is entering the 2018 Youngtimer Rally organised by classic car centre Klassikstadt Frankfurt, the Hesse-Thuringia branch of German automobile club ADAC, regional radio show HR4 and technical services company TÜV Hessen.
The collector’s item has been fitted with Falken tyres for the race; the model of choice was FALKEN ZIEX ZE310 ECORUN in size 195/65R15, load index 91 (for loads of up to 615 kilograms per tyre) and speed rating V for top speeds of 240 km/hour.
The ZIEX ZE310 ECORUN summer tyre, launched in autumn 2017, has already proved a hit with sporty drivers unwilling to compromise on comfort, and also received praise from journalists at top German motoring magazine AutoBILD after their large-scale 2018 Summer Tyre Test, where the ZIEX was awarded a verdict of “Exemplary”. These independent testers put the tyre, likewise in size 195/65R15 91V, through its paces on a SEAT Leon and confirmed its “excellent safety reserves in aquaplaning, good cornering and good lateral stability in dry conditions, short wet and dry braking distances and high mileage”.
The start and finish of this year’s Youngtimer Rally, which takes place under the banner of “Back to the Future”, will be Klassikstadt Frankfurt. The 280-kilometre route through the Vogelsberg region will take in the sights of Steinau and Gedern castles, the town of Büdingen and the World of the Celts museum at Glauberg – but most of all, will test the drivers, the car and the tyres to their limits.
The characteristic “Falken feeling” will not be confined to the tyres; the stunning design of the Porsche 944 will also ensure all eyes are on the Falken team. The car wrap will feature one of the striking designs from last year’s Design Challenge competition, with dramatic geometric lines, restrained use of the logo and an added visual kick from the iconic Falken colours. A design that clothes the classic Porsche in a visual representation of the brand’s dynamism, agility and precision.
“We’re delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the performance of our tyres at the rally. After all, cars from the ‘Generation Golf’ era are becoming increasingly popular”, notes Dennis Wilstermann, Team Head Marketing at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, before the start.
The ZIEX ZE310 ECORUN has been available since spring 2018 in 98 sizes from 14 to 18 inches, series 70–40 and with speed ratings H, V and W. Its EU tyre label categories range from C to E for energy efficiency, with the top mark of A for wet grip and noise category 2 for drive-by noise (variations according to tyre size).
