Falken with strong top ten result at NLS opener at Nürburgring
Falken finished the second round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, which also marked the start of this year's Nordschleife season, with mixed feelings. The Japanese tire manufacturer, which was on the grid with two Porsche 911 GT3 R cars, celebrated a strong top ten result in the 45th NIMEX DMV 4h race. The second vehicle did not finished the race with a technical defect.
Already in the morning qualifying the two GT3 crews convinced with good results: Sven Müller and Thomas Preining finished twelfth with the #4 car, while Dirk Werner and Alessio Picariello placed the #3 sister car in 16th overall. The start of the four-hour race was also satisfactory. At cold but dry conditions, the Falken drivers made an impeccable start.
Both Porsches kept up the pace of the leading group and were within reach of the top ten at all times. The Falken tires offered a good grip despite the cool temperatures, so that all drivers were able to use the maximum of the GT3 bolides. However, disappointment followed at race half-time when Sven Müller had to park his #4 Porsche with a technical defect.
The team concentrated on the remaining Porsche, which was driven by Dirk Werner in the final stint. The German made no mistakes and brought the fast Falken Porsche home in seventh position. This result gives hope for the upcoming races: After another NLS round, the legendary 24h race is already on the schedule at the beginning of June.
In two weeks, Falken will return to the legendary Nordschleife to prepare for the endurance classic: On May 1, the 62nd Eibach ADAC ACAS Cup will be the third round of the popular Nürburgring endurance series.
