Falken Tyre Europe GmbH is again taking a stand for equal rights: Falken currently employs 242 people, and it doesn’t just bring together people who have different cultural backgrounds and gender identities. It is also a company which actively encourages collaboration between the generations and is committed to bringing about accessibility in the workplace.
As part of this year’s Diversity Day, which is taking place on 27th May, Falken is organising a two-hour workshop focusing on communication with the aim of raising awareness for diversity. The topic of the workshop is “Blindenreportage”, or blind commentary, which means providing descriptive commentary on sports events such as football for the benefit of people who are blind or partially sighted. The workshop will be hosted by two speakers, and has the aim of raising awareness for the topic of diversity among staff who work at companies in a variety of industries. The varied programme will include practical exercises, awareness-related training as well as the possibility to give blind commentary a try. To top things off, all the participants from the Falken Family will get together for the Diversity Brunch to share both their favourite recipes as well as their personal stories and their own cultural diversity.
The workshop is being officially hosted by the CEO of the non-profit organisation “Football in your Life gGmbh”, Birger Nass. This charity is dedicated to supporting sport, child and youth welfare and helping people in need.
“Diversity and barrier-free communication are essential elements of a well-functioning society, both in everyday life and in working life. With our workshop, we want to introduce people from different industries to the importance of linguistic sensitivity and conscious perception – regardless of the physical or mental framework conditions,” explains Jürgen Steuer, Manager Human Resources & General Affairs, commenting on the event.
Birger Nass, Managing Director of Football-in-your-Life gGmbH, highlights Falken’s responsible role as an employer: “In holding our workshop as part of the Diversity Day, Falken not only underlines its appreciation for its employees, but also reaffirms its clear position as a forward-looking and modern company.”
The German Diversity Day, initiated by the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. charity, is an annual day of action in Germany to promote diversity and inclusion in organisations.
