Falken Motorsports celebrates another double victory in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series
Falken Motorsports continues its impressive winning streak in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series: just four weeks after its last double victory, the Japanese tyre brand's team is once again celebrating overall victory. At the 65th ADAC ACAS Cup, the seventh round of the popular amateur racing series, the two teal-and-blue Porsche 911 GT3 R once again proved unbeatable. Julien Andlauer and Joel Sturm won ahead of their teammates Tim Heinemann and Benjamin Leuchter, who made his successful debut in the Falken cockpit.
The morning qualifying session turned into a tyre poker game, as heavy rain made conditions difficult. Tim Heinemann and Julien Andlauer demonstrated the potential of the Falken rain tyres and took the lead, but as the track dried out, the competition fought back during the 90-minute session. Andlauer then had the final say: the Frenchman was one of the last drivers to cross the finish line before the end of the session, giving him the best conditions, which ultimately earned the #3 Falken Porsche pole position. The sister car #4 finished in fifth place on the grid.
When the starting lights turned green at 12 noon, the track had completely dried out. Starting driver Andlauer took the lead with his Falken slicks and pulled away from the competition, while Heinemann began the chase for the #4 Falken Porsche and moved up to third place overall within the first few meters. After the first pit stop, the two Falken Porsches took the lead for the first time.
But the Falken team had another scare: in the third hour of the race, the typical Eifel weather caused another shake-up in the field when parts of the track were suddenly hit by a heavy rain shower. The Falken drivers remained unscathed despite the difficult conditions, with Joel Sturm and Tim Heinemann crossing the finish line after four hours to claim their fourth overall victory and second one-two finish of the season. Tim Heinemann and Falken debutant Benjamin Leuchter rounded off the success with second place.
The next race in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series is already scheduled for Sunday: Falken Motorsports will once again be fighting for overall victory with its two teal-and-blue Porsche 911 GT3 R in the 64th ADAC Reinoldus Endurance Race. The popular Falken drifters, who are offering taxi rides for a good cause this weekend, will also be back in action.
