Falken Motorsports withdraws early from the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers
For Falken Motorsports, the racing action at the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers has taken a back seat for tragic reasons: A fatal accident overshadowed the first race on Saturday evening. The entire Falken team extends its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim, as well as to the affected team, and wishes them strength during this difficult time. The first race was stopped and not restarted.
The second race of the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers on Sunday, however, took place as scheduled despite the tragic events: Sven Müller and Morris Schuring initially placed the No. 44 Porsche 911 GT3 R in ninth position during the morning qualifying session. However, the final starting grid for the four-hour race was determined by a top qualifying session, in which Sven Müller was at the wheel of the teal-and-blue Falken Porsche.
During his first timed lap, the Falken driver lost control of the car as he approached the Hatzenbach section of the wet track and crashed violently into the track barrier. Because the Porsche subsequently had to be towed back to the paddock, the schedule leading up to the race was very tight, and the damage was too extensive, the team decided not to participate in the second race of the weekend.
Preparations for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (May 14–17) thus did not go as hoped for Falken Motorsports. Nevertheless, both the team and the drivers were able to gain valuable experience for the season’s highlight during the first races of the year. The turquoise-blue Falken Porsche with start number 44 will be driven by Klaus Bachler, Morris Schuring, Sven Müller, and Tim Heinemann at this year’s ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring.
