Falken Motorsports successful in 5th and 6th NLS races of the season

Great success for Falken: At the sixth race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the 44th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen, the team finished in third position. Tobias Müller, Dennis Olsen and Alessio Picariello steered the best-placed Porsche 911 GT3 R onto the podium after a great performance.

Falken ends the fifth round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series with one laughing and one crying eye. At the 61st ADAC Reinoldus endurance race, the team was pleased with a fourth place, but also had to cope with a retirement. Martin Ragginger hit the track barrier around 25 minutes before the end, but remained uninjured.

Only one Falken Porsche was on the grid for Sunday's "Double Header" race. In an accident on Saturday, the #4 was so badly damaged that overnight repairs were not possible. While Martin Ragginger switched to the Porsche 911 GT3 R of the friendly Frikadelli Racing team, where he was the second driver alongside Klaus Abbelen, Alessio Picariello supported his two teammates on the #3 sister car.

Together with Tobias Müller and Dennis Olsen, the Belgian reached tenth position on the grid in the morning qualifying session. Müller, who was competing for Falken for the first time this weekend, completed the start of the race and fought his way to the front. To avoid to stick in traffic, the team opted for an early pit stop and Müller handed over the cockpit to Dennis Olsen.

The Norwegian put in a good performance before Alessio Picariello took his place behind the wheel. The Belgian, who was already on course for the podium the day before, got the maximum out of the Falken tyres and gradually fought his way up to the front. In the final stage, Tobias Müller once again went in the car. After four hours, the Falken trio was able to celebrate a well deserved third place.

Falken with strong performance at fifth round of NLS

Already in qualifying, the team, drivers and tyres impressed with a strong performance. While Dennis Olsen and Tobias Müller secured fourth place on the grid with the #3 Porsche, the #4 sister car with Martin Ragginger and Alessio Picariello reached sixth position. Even after the race start, the two Falken Porsches kept within reach of the podium at all times.

During the 4h race, the sun shone over the Eifel, so that the Falken rain tyres, with which the team impressed at the legendary 24h classic four weeks ago, were not used. But the slicks also proved their potential: With good lap times, the two Porsche 911 GT3 R held their own in the leading group and were even fighting for the victory.

Around 25 minutes before the end, Martin Ragginger was in third position. But then the Austrian collided with a slower vehicle and hit the barrier. The Porsche was badly damaged and the team had to bury its hopes of a safe podium finish a few minutes before the end. Martin Ragginger was unhurt. Whether the damage to the car can be repaired overnight will be determined in the evening.

The sister car of Tobias Müller and Dennis Olsen narrowly missed the podium with fourth place and is giving the team tailwind for the upcoming night shift.

The next opportunity is coming soon: already on Sunday, just one day after the fifth round of the year, the sixth race of the season will take place. The 44th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen forms the second part of the "double header" of the Nürburgring Endurance Series.

The next round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the ROWE 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup Race, will take place on September 11, 2021.
