Tyre brand Falken will field two teams in the virtual 4h Race held by Nürburgring’s RaceRoom Café in its premises on the Ring°Boulevard on 3 November – the first time Falken has taken part in the event. 120 drivers on a total of 30 race simulators will line up at the start; the race will be streamed live on social media channels Facebook and YouTube.
Like the real-life VLN races, the Falken teams will race in a Porsche 911 GT3 and a BMW M6 GT3. Each Falken vehicle will be in the capable hands of three drivers along the virtual route, with each team made up of two professional racing drivers plus one co-pilot chosen from our online fan community. Members of Falken’s fan community had signed up on the tyre brand’s Facebook page for the chance of winning a place in the virtual cockpit; the lucky winners were decided in a draw. The six drivers will be present in person, fighting for the best starting position in the qualifying round and then putting everything they have into winning the race itself. Falken will also stream the race on its own social media channels to allow fans to experience the excitement of the race.
“We now have almost 200,000 followers on our social media channels”, enthuses Markus Bögner, Managing Director and COO at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, over the event. “Of course we’ll be showcasing our sporting ambition in this virtual race, and our teams are every bit as determined to achieve top lap times as they are in the real thing.”
