Another Top 5 finish for Falken

Falken again delivered a great performance, scooping up fourth place for the BMW M6 GT3 and sixth place for the Porsche 911 GT3 at the seventh round of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring.

Similarly to the last race three weeks ago, the “Green Hell” also proved particularly challenging at the seventh round of the VLN 2019. Ever-changing weather conditions necessitated an enormous amount of skill and experience when it came to tyre changes, demanding the drivers’ every last efforts.

These challenges were mastered magnificently by Jörg Bergmeister (D) and Martin Ragginger (A) during qualifying, earning themselves sixth starting position in the #4 Porsche 911 GT3 R, while Peter Dumbreck (GB) and Stef Dusseldorp (NL) started close in eighth place in the #3 BMW M6 GT3.

At the very start of the customarily four-hour race, another vehicle sent Martin Ragginger into a spin, causing him to fall far behind. As the race progressed, however, the Bergmeister / Ragginger duo fought their way back through the field, clenching fastest lap times, and securing sixth place and the distinction of best Porsche at the end of the race.

Dumbreck and Dusseldorp remained in the front group over the entire race, even taking the lead from time to time. In the end, their resourcefully executed strategy earned them fourth place, thereby awarding them yet another Top 5 finish.

The next race of the season – which will simultaneously be this year’s last for Falken – will be the eight round of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring on 12 October 2019

The data collected through “Tyre Leap AI Analysis” will support engineers to create longer lasting tyres with more consistent performance over time and is a key element of SRI’s “SMART TYRE CONCEPT”.
